Maria Isabel

María Isabel is 11 years old and lives in Medellín with her mother, who has been her greatest support throughout this entire process. Some time ago, her life changed unexpectedly due to a traffic accident that severely injured her leg and eventually led to its amputation.

Despite this difficult situation, María Isabel has become an example of resilience and strength. Her smile is constant and contagious; every morning she wakes up with the same joy that defines her, brightening those around her with her positive energy. Her outlook on life is truly inspiring, as she doesn’t focus on limitations but instead finds reasons to be grateful and to share happiness in every conversation.

Currently, María Isabel is undergoing therapies that will help prepare her for the use of a prosthetic leg. This process opens the possibility for her to once again enjoy the activities she loves most, such as dancing and skating—two passions that motivate her to keep moving forward with enthusiasm and hope.

Her story reminds us that true strength does not lie in the physical, but in the ability to keep joy alive even in the face of the hardest challenges.
